San Juan District Extends Closure Until May 1: Today the San Juan School District extended its school closures until Friday, May 1. This means there is still a slight chance of continuing the season unless the closures are extended further into the calendar year. We are also waiting on the CIF to determine if they will be continuing spring sports this year. For those that have been continuing their training there is still a slight bit of hope that we can finish off the season but it doesn't look promising at this point. OUR ADVICE IS TO CONTINUE YOUR TRAINING!!! Regardless of the outcome the only thing that we can control is our own fitness. We will continue posting workouts that you can do by yourself or with a small group (4-5 people). In these times the resilient are the ones who know the greatest success! Try to stay positive! If we lose our 2020 season keep working for next season! This situation will eventually pass and life will get back to normal. Be ready for it!

All Meets and Practices Suspended Until April 13 Due to COVID-19: Earlier today the San Juan District limited activities, including all sports teams, to groups no larger than 250 people until April 13 which, of course, is every track meet that we attend. This evening the Capital Athletic League Board voted to align our league with the Roseville districts policy of no practice until April 13. This means that starting tomorrow and continuing to April 12 we will not be able to meet as a team and train or attend any meets on our schedule. The coaching staff is exploring ways to communicate workouts to all of you that you can do on your own so that if we are allowed to resume the season in April we will at least have a reasonable level of fitness. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We are meeting this Saturday to discuss present and future strategies so stay tuned after this weekend. Although difficult, the best thing that you can do is stay motivated and do your workouts with the same passion as before. Go Broncos!

If you have questions you can email Coach U at daveu@surewest.net and I will try to answer them the best I can.

Clarke Massey Relays Entries: Bella Vista entries for Saturday's Relays can now be viewed by athlete - by event. Athletes should arrive at Cordova High School one hour before their event is scheduled to start. Running events will be run in what we call a "rolling schedule" meaning they will start at 8:45 am and after that follow the order on the schedule. However, after the 8:45 am start the times for each event will be uncertain. Below is an estimated time schedule for the running events. Remember this is a best guess so plan to be at Cordova High School well in advance of this guess.

8:45 am - 3200's (3 heats)
9:30 am - shuttle hurdles (4 heats)
9:50 am - 4 x 100's (7 heats)
10:25 am - 4 x 800's (3 heats)
11:10 pm - Sprint Medley Relays (6 heats)
11:40 pm - 4 x 200's (7 heats)
12:10 pm - Distance Medley Relays (3 heats)
12:55 pm - 4 x 400's (6 heats)
1:30 pm – end

The first round of field events start at 9:00 am and you should figure it will take about 90 minutes to 2 hours for each division so if you are scheduled for a 9:00 am field event be at Cordova at 8:00 am. If you are schedule for the second field event be at Cordova from 9:30 am and for the third field event be there at 11:30 pm. Field event athletes click the "order of events" link above to view when you are scheduled to compete.

Everyone should exchange cell numbers with someone on their relay team and/or field event team just in case the schedule moves faster than expected. That way we can call you and let you know to arrive earlier.

You will need to provide your own transportation to Cordova High School so secure that in advance!

Parent Meeting: The Bella Vista track and field team will be having our annual parent meeting Wednesday, February 26 at 6:30 PM in the BV Small Gym. Topics of discussion will be team rules and expectations, season schedule, transportation to away meets, and ways you as parents can help your son or daughter as well as the BV track community. We have a very large team this year so it is important that we get everyone involved and this meeting is the first step. Also please check out our donation letter. Hope to see you all there! Team Pictures will be taken in the stadium starting at 2:15 pm on Thursday, February 27. Wear your uniform jersey and shorts. There will be four teams taking pictures - frosh/soph boys, frosh/soph girls, varisty boys and varsity girls. We will have practice immediately following team pictures. (posted 2-22-20)

Clarke Massey Relays Preliminary Information: It is important that you let your coach know if you can't make the meet on February 29 so that we can fill your spot with another team member! We will try to get as many team members an event to compete in as possible but this meet is classified as "entry limitations" (EL) so there is limited space and we have a large team. Detailed meet information will be posted Thursday. (posted 2-22-20)

Practice Schedule for February Break (Feb 17-21): We understand that families go on vacation during breaks. If this is the case for you it is a good idea for you to talk to your event coach to receive workouts that you can do on your own while you are away. If you are not out of town you should be participating in workouts with the team. Either way look for a way to get into a workout not ways to get out of a workout! No excuses!
