Sacramento Meet of Champions Student Volunteer Sign Up: Guess what? The Bella Vista track and field team is host to one of the most prestigious track meets in California. It is called the Sacramento Meet of Champions. Because we are the host school we need every Bronco athlete's help to put this meet on. Helping at this meet directly affects your ability to achieve and receive your end of the year awards (letter awards etc). This means that not helping at this meet jeopardizes your chances of receiving your letter awards (follow this link to view how to recieve your awards on the last page of the team handbook). You will see that you need a certain number of volunteer hours dedicated to the BV track and field team to receive your award. Follow this link to sign up for the position that suits you. It is a good idea to choose an event or job (event) that you are familiar with. We need all hands on deck for this one because we can't do it without you! (Oh and student helpers get a free meet t-shirt!) (posted 4-1-23)

A note on construction at Antelope: From Antelope coach - We have construction taking place right next to Lane 9 at the top of the track 50 meters away from the start of the 400 meter starting line. Parents won't be able to cross the track, I'll make sure to have an additional gate open for parents to sit on the visitors side of the stadium should they choose to. We have plenty of room and friendly track fans should your parents want to enjoy their athletes on the home side of the field also.

Long and triple jumpers make sure you are checked in at your event with the official before the start of the first race.

Sturgeon Invitational scheduled for this Saturday at Granite Bay HS has been postponed to April 15 (click for updated season schedule)

(posted 3-8-23)

Clarke Massey Relays Information: Athletes should arrive at Cordova High School one hour (90 minutes for distance runners) before their event is scheduled to start.

Running events will be run in what we call a "rolling schedule" meaning they will start at 8:30 am and after that follow the order on the schedule. However, after the 8:30 am start the times for each event will be uncertain. Because of this we have created a "best guess" time schedule for running event below.

Field Events: The first round of field events start at 8:30 am and you should figure it will take no longer than 20 to 60 minutes for each division to finish so if you are scheduled for a 8:30 am field event be at Cordova at 7:30 am. If you are schedule for the second, third or fourth field event be at Cordova at 8:00 am. Some events will likely be combined like the frosh/soph girls and varsity girls pole vault so be aware of what is happening at your event site. Field event athletes click the "meet schedule" link below to view when you are scheduled to compete.

Below is an estimated time schedule for the running events. Remember this is a best guess and could go faster then planned so plan to be at Cordova High School well in advance of this guess.

8:30 am – F/S and Var Girls 3200
8:50 am – F/S and Var Boys 3200

Parent Meeting: There will be a team parent meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:30 pm at BV in the big gym. Topics of discussion will be team rules and expectations, season schedule, transportation to away meets, and ways you as parents can help your son or daughter as well as the BV track community. We have a very large team this year so it is important that we get everyone involved and this meeting is the first step. Hope to see you all there! Since our meeting is on campus and inside we will need to wear masks.

Attention Parents - As a reminder the Track and Field Team is seeking your donation of $125.00 to the BVXCT Booster Club.  The money is used to pay for our additional Coaching Stipends, Uniform Replacement and Athlete Entrance Fees.   We will be collecting your donations at the Parent Meeting on Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30PM.   We accept cash, checks (made out to BVXCT Booster Club with your athlete's name in the memo), Apple Pay or Online Donations.  All families donating that evening will receive a FREE BV Track & Field Shirt.

Thank you so much for your support of our amazing Track and Field Program.  It's going to be a great season.  Go Broncos!  ~Dayle Cantrall, Booster Club President

Glenn Poole Invitational Information: On Saturday, February 25, athletes should arrive at Oakmont High School one hour before their event is scheduled to start (distance runners should arrive 90 minutes before event start time).

Running events will be run in what we call a "rolling schedule" meaning they will start at 9:00 am and after that follow the order on the schedule. However, after the 9:00 am start the times for each running event will be uncertain. Below is an estimated time schedule for the running events. Remember this is a best guess so plan to be at Oakmont High School well in advance of this guess because the meet could run faster or slower than the estimated time schedule.

Field event times are listed on the order of events below (follow Glenn Poole Schedule of Events link). Field events will begin at 8:30 am and follow a set schedule for some events and a rolling schedule for others. As you will see the long and triple jump are on a set schedule but the high jump, pole vault and throwing events are on a rolling schedule. For the rolling scheduled events figure that each field event division (frosh/soph boys, varsity girls etc) will take about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Team area: Coach U will attempt to arrive at Oakmont (very) early to set up our team tents on the south end of the visitors stands.

Those not entered: This meet has entry limits meaning not all of our athletes will be able to compete in this meet. We try to get as many of you in as we can but we have a very large team and the top athletes will always get first consideration for weekend meets.

Spectator Entry Fee: Spectators will enter the stadium from the main gate. Guests can pay by Cash, Card, or Apple Pay for everything: Entrance, T-shirts, Snack bar, and Vendors.

Parking is limited. Please try to bring the whole family in 1 car. Coaches and athletes are encouraged to carpool.

Everyone entering the stadium must have a wristband. Coaches and athletes will be given 1 color. Spectators will be given a separate color. Everyone is expected to keep their wristband on for the day to allow you to go through the gates without problems. We are asking that the whole team enter together OR coaches meet your athletes outside the gate with wristbands. No one will be allowed through without a wristband. Note: A BV coach will meet you at the entrance to give you your wristband.

Entry Gate: Teams will enter the double wide gate at the main entrance starting at 7 am - 8 am.

Check in and warm ups start at 7:30 am. Running event check in at area 10 on stadium map. See link below.

Checking out: After your last event ends remember to check in and let your event coach know that you are leaving the meet.

BV Entries: Finalized Bella Vista entries are posted below (and at practice on the bulletin board on Tuesday). We are allowed 3 in each event and one relay team. If you see an opening you would like to fill, talk to Coach U at Tuesday's practice or send him and email. The entry deadline is Tuesday, February 21 at midnight so we need to finalize our entries by then.

Practice schedule for the week of (Feb 20-24):

(posted 2-16-23)

Event Sign Up: On Monday there will be an "event sign up" at practice. There will be tables set up with each roster (frosh/soph girls and boys and varsity girls and boys). Simply find your name and put an "X" in the box of the events that you want to do this season. This is not an actual sign up for anything and in no way are you committed to do the events that you chose. It is just a way for the coaches to get a better understanding of what events each athlete wants to do. (posted 2-11-23)

Time Trial Wednesday, February 15: Our practice on Wednesday, February 15 will be a time trial. This is a practice not a meet so dress for practice (no uniforms). Think of it as a workout that is being timed. Sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers will be timed in the 100 meters and 400 meters for the day's workout. Distance runners will be timed in the 1600 meters. It is very important that all team members attend because the times that you run will be how the coaches decide who runs in the first meet and makes the relay teams. (posted 2-11-23)

Parent Volunteers for Time Trial: We could use a couple of parent volunteers to help at the finish line during Wednesday's time trial. There is already one signed up but he could use some help at the finish line organizing the runners as they cross. You can sign up at this link. (posted 2-11-23)

Uniform Checkout: Starting on Thursday (2-16) and Friday (2-17) Coach U will be checking out uniform jerseys to those who chose not to purchase their own. This will be done after practice and announced during practice on both days. If you missed either day we will continue to hand them out during the Presidents Week off at practice. Uniforms that are checked out need to be returned at the end of the season (washed please!) (posted 2-11-23)

First Meet February 25: Our first meet of 2023 will be on Saturday, February 25 at Oakmont High School. We understand that it is the last weekend of our week off and that families may be out of town on vacation. It is the coaching staffs hope that you stick with your committment to the team but again, we understand that some families will be gone. Because of this, it is very important that you let your event coach know if you are committed to attending the meet. There are a limited number of slots that we can fill for weekend meets and we want to get as many of our athletes entered as we possibly can so please let us know if you can or can't attend that first meet. (posted 2-11-23)

Meet Schedule Change: We have made one more change to the season schedule. We are moving back to March 4 to attend the Clarke Massey Relays. We believe this shift back to Saturday will make it easier on the team because we will not miss any school time and will save over $1000 on a team bus. Therefore, we will not be going to the meet on Friday, March 3. The change has been made on the meet schedule and team handbook. Please note on your calendars.(posted 2-8-23)

The 2023 Season Off and Running!: We officially begin our 2023 track and field season on Monday, February 6. This means that practice is no longer voluntary but manditory. ROLL CALL WILL BE TAKEN DAILY. If you need to be absent from practice you will need to email Coach U to let him know the reason you are absent (distance runners email Coach Kuphaldt). If you are still out for a winter sport or still haven't gotten cleared on sportsnet then please contact Coach U and let him know your status. Click for clearance list.

Follow this link to read our team handbook. It contains all of the team rules and guidelines that you will be responsible for.

The coaching staff is looking forward to working with you this year! GO BRONCOS! (posted 2-4-23)
