- Week of October 22, 2001: Clay Taft writes and sends off second grant to the State of Ca. for a possible $100,000 for environmentally safe projects that use recycled rubber (like our new track). We will find out about this grant in February 2002.

- November 11-13, 2001: Doug Asche and John Bigwood of KASL Consulting Engineers volunteer their time to survey and stake the turns for curbing etc.
- November 12 - 13, 2001: Had over an inch of rain. Track took on a lot of water so construction had to be stopped a few days.
- November 14, 2001: High jump and shot put (click for pictures) areas behind north and south end zones were rough graded.
- November 15, 2001: The decision was made to halt the construction because the soil under the future curb area was too unstable because of the rain.
- November 20, 2001: Project work was again moved up a week due to rain.
- December 3, 2001: Low points were drained and water pumped out after heavy rains in preparation for work to begin again the next day.
- December 4, 2001: Teichert Inc. continued construction by removing the saturated unstable mud from inside curb area all the way around the track. A 1 to 2 foot deep, 2 foot wide trench was made around the inside edge of the track to prepare for the new inside curb. The trench was then filled first with a protective fabric then with gravel to stabilize the area under the future inside curb.
- December 5, 2001: More than expected rain fall this day caused work on the project to be put off until further notice.
- December 10, 2001: Construction resumed with the clean-up of mud on the track surface and finishing the filling of the inside trench with gravel for new curb (click for pictures). Outside edge of track prepared with gravel for a new curb in the same way as the inside curb but without the protective fabric. Rough grade on actual track surface was started also.
- December 11, 2001: Started final grade of track surface started and also began to dig long and triple jump pits. (click for pictures)
- December 12, 2001: Final grade of track surface completed. Long and triple jump areas (behind east visitor stands) also graded. (click for pictures)
- December 13, 2001: Inside and outside curb completed. Forms for north pathway put in and some weather proofing done for up-coming storm front. (click for pictures). A potentially big problem was found on the east side of the track. More wet, unstable ground and this time it is deep. In an effort to find out why the area is so unsuitable, John Bigwood of KASL engineers found an old topographical map of the region the stadium and track now sit on from before the school was built. From the map we learned that the surface of the track that contains the saturated soil just north of the visitors stands was once a creek bed and that area is where the natural flow of ground water goes. We will have to repair this area much like the inside curb area was repaired sometime after the rains Thursday (12-13-01) night. So all we can do now is wait until everything dries... again.
- December 14, 2001: The big storm came through Thursday night and left a lot of water (click for pictures) on the track. Teichert Inc. stayed most of Friday and pumped out most of the water from around the inside curb area.
- December 15, 2001: Teichert Inc. and Wallace - Kuhl & Associates decided to wait until January to begin work again.
- January 8, 2002: John F. Otto General Contractors Inc. donated their time and materials to frame the long and triple jump runways (click for pictures) behind the visitor stands on the east side of the stadium.

Otto General Contractors Inc. donated their time and materials to do the cement work for the long and triple jump runways (click for pictures) and shot put rings (click for pictures). Also giving John F. Otto a great deal on concrete was Livingston Concrete Service Inc. and Associated Concrete Pumping helped out pumping the concrete to the rings and runways.
- January 16-18, 2002: Teichert Inc. built a retaining wall (click for pictures) off of the east visitor stands.
- January 29-30, 2002: Teichert Inc. continued work on the track surface, high jump apron, and shot put sectors. Most of the work was concentrated on the track where they began to remove all the unsuitable soil on east side by visitor stands and anywhere else it was needed around track surface. A large amount of rock and gravel was donated today by Michael Barrett of B & B Machinery.
- January 31 - February 1, 2002: Teichert Inc. moved the asphalt base (gravel) over entire surface of track.
- February 4-5, 2002: Teichert Inc. finished preparing the asphalt base for asphalt instalation this week. Long and triple jump pits were dug also.
- February 8, 2002: It was determined that the east side unsuitable soil problem is still a problem and the solution will be to take out six inches of cement treated rock and add six inches of asphalt. Then we wait until Friday, February 15 and asphalt the entire track.
- February 11, 2002: Six to eight inches of asphalt base was removed from east side of track where soil was still unsuitable and area was patched with six to eight inches of asphalt. High jump area was asphalted along with some other areas (click for pictures).
