Bella Vista Speed Festival (4-1-23): Our second annual speed festival saw some top notch performances by the Broncos. This event featured only sprinting and hurdling events giving us the opportunity to run many more athletes than the usual weekend invitational.
The boys led the way with two all time list marks by Owen Dismukes (11.46) and Kai Brown (11.54) - 19th and 30th all time. Kai and Owen were joined by Carson Newman and Aiden Browning in the 4 x 100 relay where they placed 3rd overall and ran 44.04 to tie them for 13th all time. On the girls side the 4 x 100 team of Allie Anselmino, Ryan Ragagli, Sarita Pena, and Fiona Ryan moved up on the all time list clocking 51.79 putting them at number 22 all time.
Once again there were numerous personal (PR) and seasonal records (SR) by the Bronco sprinters and hurdlers which can be viewed by following the results link below.

Granite Bay Field Festival (3-31-23): The Granite Bay Field Festival is a unique competition in that only field events are contested. This format gives coaches the oportunity to enter a few more jumpers and throwers into larger school competitions then in the normal weekend invitational where there are event limits. The Broncos took advantage of this format showing improvement in every event.
It seemed that the theme of the day for the Broncos was personal and seasonal records at this years Granite Bay Field Festival. Bella Vista field athletes posted six seasonal bests and twenty one personal bests. After weeks of frustrating weather this meet was a breath of fresh air for the BV field athletes.

Rocklin Thunder Invitational (3-25-23): We were treated to another sunny day in Rocklin but couldn't excape a cold north wind. The BV distance runners performed the night before at the Bronco Distance Carnival so we didn't have the 800, 1600 or 3200 runners in the meet. Sprinters don't enjoy the colder temps like the distance runners but even so, there were some great performances by the Broncos.
Medal Winners (top 5 medaled): The BV boys 4 x 100 (Carson Newman, Kai Brown, Aiden Browning and Owen Dismukes) were a close second to Whitney HS running 44.19. Fiona Ryan reached 10 feet in the pole vault for the first time this year earning her a 5th place medal. Aiden Browning also took home a medal for 5th place in the pole vault. In the boys triple jump Owen Dismukes went 41-09 good for third place.

Go Broncos!
Fighting Zebra Invitational (3-18-23): The Broncos took a small squad to a low key meet at Lincoln high school (Lincoln, CA) on Saturday and came away with some excellent performances. While the distance runners were out of town at the Dublin distance meet (more on that later) the BV field athletes, sprinters and hurdlers recorded several personal bests bringing home quite a few medals and one all time list mark.
Personal and Season Bests: Once again the Broncos posted several personal records (PR) and seasonal records (SR) which can be viewed at the results link above. When we see this many PRs and SRs this early it is a good indication of our training progress. Those who have dedicated themselves to the betterment of themselves and the team have been seeing this improvement on a weekly basis. Keep it up Broncos!
All Time list Entry: Sophomore Aidan Browning achieved a person best in the pole vault going 12-06.50 to win the varsity competition. The mark was good enough to place him on the Bella Vista Track and Field all time list for the vault where he made his debut at number 26 all time in school history!

The Broncos won 31 medals in all, a fine showing especially considering the small team we brought and the number of team members who opted out at the last minute. When we see stronger dedication to the team we usually see great things. It is the coaching staffs hope that we can get more team members to buy in to what we are trying to accomplish. If we get that the sky is the limit!
CVC Meet #1 (3-15-23): Finally some decent weather! It was nice to be able to be at a track meet with the sun on our faces. Hopefully this is a trend that will continue in the coming weeks. The Broncos took advantage of the nice weather to post some excellent early season marks and, for the first time this season, come together as a team to show the area our quality. As you can see below our team did well on Wednesday, winning every catagory but the varsity girls versus Woodcreek. It was a tough matchup that came down to the final race of the night. We were not at full strength in any division but still competed well against two fine teams.

Individually the Broncos posted some solid times and marks. The varsity boys 4 x 100 relay team ran 44.11 placing them tied for 15th all time in school history. A great time this early in the season especially when considering the bad weather we have had. Several season bests and personal bests were established on Wednesday (too many to list here). You can view each athletes results and see if they set a season record (SR) or a personal record (PR) by following the results link below.

Our next CVC meet is at Woodcreek high school against Inderkum and Yuba City. Woodcreek will be competing with us but we will not score against them as a team because we already did that in our first CVC meet.
Clarke Massey Relays (3-4-23): After a three year absence from the area high school track calendar, the Clarke Massey Relays returned to a cloudy day that by noon became a very wet and windy one. Some of the seniors on the team can remember this meet as their first high school meet in 2020 right before the COVID-19 lockdowns hit. We competed in this meet then our season ended. It was nice to start this season off with this meet again. It allows us to enter more athletes than the typical weekend invitational. With the threat of rain a few teams scratched so the meet was over quickly.
The rain didn't hit us until around noon which allowed the field event performers to finish their events on dry runways and rings. The running events, however, had to finish the meet in some punishing rain and wind. The Bronco frosh/soph girls led the way this weekend winning 9 events and medaling in two others placing them first in the team competition.
Gold Medal Performances:
- Frosh/Soph girls 4x100 (Allie Anselmino, Carmen Tomlinson, Taylor Douglas, Uriah Walton)

All Time Marks:
There were two all time list marks acheived at the meet. Owen Dismukes showed his jumping prowess posting a lifetime best triple jump. Owen landing in the pit and the tape measure showed 42-08.50 good for 23rd all time in school history. The varsity boys 4 x 100 team of Carson Newman, Kai Brown, Aidan Browning, and Owen Dismukes ran 44.57 for the 27th best time in school history.
The Broncos are fighting through one of the coldest, wettest track seasons in memory but even with the tough weather conditions we are getting in some quality training and the coaching staff believes we will round into another very competive team in the coming weeks. Go Broncos!
Glenn Poole Invitational (2-25-23): The Glenn Poole Invitational at Oakmont HS was our first meet this year and after talking with the coaches we could not remember a colder start to the track season. Rain was forcasted in the morning but fear of a wet start faded with the cold temperatures remaining throughout the day. Even with lower than desired temps the Broncos posted some excellent early seaon marks and came away with a few medals to show for it.
Gold Medal Performances: Bella Vista won three events on Saturday.
- The Frosh/Soph Boys Distance Medley team of Bryce Smith (200m leg), Griffen Keel (400m leg), Jonah Wooden (800m leg), and Aaron Thompson (1200m leg) took the win in this unorthodox DMR distance. Their winning time of 7:37.53 bettered the second place team by over four seconds!
- Our next victory came from the frosh/soph girls 4 x 100 team of Carmen Tomlinson, Uriah Walton, Kiyoko Lucky, and Sarita Pena. Practicing handoffs days before in the cold rain must have paid off. The girls ran a fine early season time of 54.83 good enough to beat 29 other schools!
- Our lone field event win came from Owen Dismukes in the varsity boys triple jump. Owen notched a 40-07.00 jump to take home the gold.
Other Medalists: Medals were awarded to the top 3 individuals and relay teams in each event.
- The frosh/soph girls distance medley team (Sarita Pena, Jada Beloberk, Angelyna Bedal, Zoe Corder) won their heat and took home the silver for second overall with a time of 9:02.52.
- Uriah Walton took home silver in the frosh/soph girls 400 meters running 66.37 and placed third winning the bronze in the 200 meters recording a 28.82 mark.
- Kiyoko Lucky took home two individual third place bronze medals. One in the high jump where she went 4-02 and one in the triple jump posting a 26-10.50 jump.
- Also medaling in the high jump was Zach Smith in the frosh/soph boys division. Zach went 5-04 good for third place and a bronze medal.
- Bryce Lovins was the third Bronco to medal in the high jump posting a 5-08 inch jump good for the silver and second place.
- For his second medal of the day, Owen Dismukes broke the 20 foot barrier in the long jump going 20-03 on his first attempt which put him in the third place bronze position.
- Finally, sophomore Grant Hymas vaulted 12-00 in the varsity high jump taking 2nd in his first varsity invitational.
Overall a great first outing for the Broncos with over 20 total medals! The weather was not ideal but it looks like it doesn't get better anytime soon so we need to keep a positive attitude and train as hard as we can no matter what nature throws at us. We can use the weather as an excuse, we can treat the weather as an obticle we can't get around or we can believe in the work that we have done. I'll take the latter every time! The only way out is through so bring on the rain and wind. Lets go Broncos!
