Capital Valley Conference Finals (5-21-21 and 5-22-21): Coming into this very strange season back in March the coaching staff really didn't know what to expect. With almost no time to prepare for the season in terms of pre-conditioning of athletes or knowing what our final competiton schedule would look like, we couldn't get a handle on the best way to prepare the team for such a shortened season. As evidenced last Friday and Saturday we didn't have any reason for concern because the athletes themselves chose to rise up and perform at levels that we didn't expect. As a team the Broncos performed with excellence and poise showing their depth across the board in every event group. The frosh/soph boys took a solid second in the CVC with the frosh/soph girls, varsity girls and varsity boys all ending the day victorious (see team scores below)

The Broncos also made an assault on the all time list at the CVC Finals with a fury that surpassed every other meet this year posting 16 new marks to the lists. Starting with the first event of the meet Katy O' Brien (16.25) and Solaye Curtis (17.39) both moved up on the 100 hurdles all time list with Katy going from 25th to 10th and Solaye debuting at number 22 all time. The varsity girls 4 x 100 relay team have steadily improved all season and the CVC Finals were no exception. The team of Katy O' Brien, Reyna Dismukes, Ryan Ragagli and Isa Rasmussen showed great form improving their season best mark by almost half of a second running 49.67 which tied them for 6th all time.

The distance events were not to be outdone as shown in the varsity 3200 meters where junior Leila Swenson won with a time of 11:18.56 good for number 6 all time. Leila was followed by Julia Mannerino who cracked the 12 minute barrier for the first time running 11:59.15 for her first appearance on the all time list at 25th place. For the boys Ashton Cobabe ran 9:57.23 to break 10 minutes for the first time and reach 27th place on the 3200 meter all time list.

In another great hurdle performance the BV long hurdlers racked up a bunch of points for the team and made it take a while for Coach U to update the 300 hurdle all time list. The girls took 1st through 4th place led by Katy O'Brien's big personal record of 47.78 good for 10th all time. Katy was closely followed by Isabella Chilcutt who ran a personal best of 48.23. Then came Ryan Ragagli who entered the all time list at number 19 running 49.51. Finally Solaye Curtis had a big PR posting a 50.61 from the first heat placing her 22nd all time. For the boys senior Spencer Block broke into the 300 hurdle all time list with a 43.98 time and 23rd place. Reyna Dismukes had two accolades in the 200 meters on Saturday. She won with a time of 25.57 placing her 4th on the all time list and on top of that her time was good enough to break the senior class record in that event. Isa Rasmussen also moved up once again on the 200 meter all time list pacing a 26.37 mark putting her in the 11th position.

In the field events Isa Rasmussen did it one more time in the long jump going 17-09.50 moving her up to number 5 all time and Rachel Radcliff jumped 17-01.50 good for the 8th spot all time. Reyna Dismukes moved her personal best in the triple jump up to 35-08.50 placing her 4th all time. Finally Julia Mann improved her standing on the discus all time list throwing 97-03 inches moving her up to number 14 all time.

In the Varsity division athletes who placed 1st or 2nd in an event were automatically placed on the Capital Valley Conference all league team (1st place = 1st team all league and 2nd place = 2nd team all league). Bella Vista - Roseville Woodcreek Meet (5-15-21): In their last dual meet of the season the Broncos split the team honors with the BV girls team winning both the varsity and frosh/soph divisions and both of the boys teams falling to Woodcreek. Scores - VG: BV 91 - WC 31, FSG: BV 62 - WC 32, VB: WC 71 - BV 56, FSB: WC 72 - BV 36.

Individually the Broncos once again posted some excellent marks and were lead by Katy O' Brien who looks as if she is becoming very serious about the hurdles. Katy ran her first 300 hurdle race ever and posted a time that put her 18th in school history with a 50.00 first outing. She also had a big PR in the 100 hurdles running 17.57 putting her on that events all time list for the first time. Reyna Dismukes finally landed her big long jump going 18-05.50 inches moving her to number two all time moving her closer to a possible school record in next weeks CVC Finals. Arcadia Invitational (5-8-21): Only four Broncos made the trip to Arcadia, one of the most prestigious track and field meets in the country, but even with such a small herd Bella Vista made it's mark on the rest of California. Reyna Dismukes placed 7th in the long jump with a mark of 17-05 on Saturday morning. Her fine performance was followed by Shae Wright in the pole vault who reached a personal record of 11-03 which placed her 9th on the BV all time list.

Later in the afternoon Isabella Chilcutt took on the best in the state in the high jump and came out victorious jumping 5-05 for first place in the high powered invitational session. Later that evening Sean Lacey posted yet another personal best running 8:57.13 good for 2nd all time at Bella Vista and 11th in the race. There were 15 runners who went under 9 minutes and all were from California! In fact, Sean's time placed him 18th all time in Sac-Joaquin Section history and we all know there is more to come from Sean.

Overall the meet was a great experience for everyone who attended. It felt awesome to be able to watch our athletes compete with other high schoolers who were at such a high level. With all that we have been through the Broncos continue to shine! We are looking forward to the two remaining meets and feel that the best is yet to come.

Bella Vista - Roseville Meet (5-5-21): As coaches we have been concerned this year with not having enough time to properly train the team given only eight weeks to develop fitness. It seems that our concerns were probably not needed because the majority of the Bella Vista track team has shown excellent improvement and we still have two weeks to go until the CVC Finals.

In our meet with Roseville high school on Wednesday the Broncos had another great haul of personal and seasonal records. Check out the results at this link. Aside from the great performances all season, what is really encouraging is the fact that the team's attitude has been so possitive. As the weather gets hotter the Broncos have shown a great deal of resilience in the face of constantly having to deal with COVID protocols and quarantines. Even though this is an abbreviated year and we have not had the proper amount of time to get to know each member of the team I have really enjoyed working with everyone so far because of the smiles (behind masks) and competitive grit shown by all.

Our team swept the Tigers at all levels once again - Varsity Girls: BV 97 - Rose 25, Varsity Boys: BV 64 - Rose 57, Frosh/Soph Girls: BV 68 - Rose 16, Frosh/Soph Boys: BV 88 - Rose 25.

The all time lists were assaulted again with two pole vaulters moving up starting with Shea Wright who vaulted 11-2 to move to number 9 all time and later Brian Coker once again moved up on the list cracking the 13-0 barrier good for 18th all time. Isa Rasmussen went crazy on Wednesday moving up on three lists first in the high jump with a new PR of 5-2 good for a tie for 10th all time. She then long jumped 17-3 moving her to 6th all time and finally ended the meet with a 26.65 PR in the 200 meters placing her 13th all time. The varsity girls 4 x 100 once again lowered their season best to 50.15 posting a solid 7th place on the all time list.

Our next meet is the Arcadia Invitational on Saturday. This meet is only for 4 of the team members. Follow this link for more information on how you can follow the Broncos progress in the south land.

Bella Vista - Granite Bay Meet (5-1-21): As in previous weeks the story of Saturday's meet against Granite Bay was about improvement. With all that we have had to deal with this past 14 months it has been very encouraging to watch the Bronco's get better and better every week. Our meet against Granite Bay was no exeption as it saw the varsity boys and girls teams victorious over the Grizzlys - varsity girls BV 74 - GB 45, varsity boys BV 65 - GB 62. Both frosh/soph teams lost in very close contests - frosh/soph girls GB 64 - BV 50, frosh/soph boys GB 62 - BV 60.

As already mentioned this meet was about improvement which can be seen in the number of personal records (PR) and season records (SR) that were posted. Follow this link to view the meet results and look for PR or SR after each athletes name to see if they acheived a personal record or a season record.

More all time list marks (6) were acheived by the Broncos in this meet than any other this season. Isa Rasmussen ran 27.03 winning the event and moving her up to number 17 on the 200 meter all time list. Isa also improved her standing on the long jump list jumping 16-08 for second place and good for 11th place all time. Leila Swenson made her debut on the 800 meter all time list with a 2:26.44 effort entering the list at number 26 all time. Sean Lacey cracked the top twenty all time in the 1600 meters posting a fine 4:26.46 time and a run away win. The varsity girls 4 x 100 relay of Katy O' Brien, Reyna Dismukes, Ryan Ragagli and Isa Rasmussen claimed the number 7 position on the all time list at 50.58. In the last 3 meets pole vaulter Brian Coker has improved his PR and this Saturday he kept his streak alive but this time his mark of 12-06 was good enough to get him on the pole vault all time list.

Check out the results link above for all of the Bronco's accomplishments! Our next meet is against Roseville on Wednesday, May 5 at BV. Should be another great day of track and field for the Broncos so everyone come and check it out!

Bella Vista - River Valley Meet (4-28-21): The meet at Bella Vista on Wednesday was the the warmest of the season so far with temperatures reaching almost 90 degrees. Even with a team not acclimated to the heat the Broncos posted some impressive marks. As a team BV swept every division winning with a comfortable margin across the board. For the girls McKenna Worthington had a big day posting personal records in three events - the 100, long jump and triple jump. Alani Summers also PR'ed in the pole vault going 6-00 for the first time in a meet. For all of the personal records and season records acheived in this meet follow this link and look for the PR and SR after athletes names.

The Broncos have proven all season that even limited to smaller meets they can shine with the best in the section! Our next meet is Saturday, May 1 at BV against Granite Bay. Go Broncos!

Bella Vista - Yuba City Dual Meet (4-21-21): On a warm day at Yuba City High School the Broncos posted another win sweeping the Honkers in Wednesdays dual meet. Scores - F/S Boys BV 75 - YC 22, F/S Girls BV 40 - YC 27, Varsity Boys BV 72 - YC 59, Varsity Girls BV 84 - YC 24.

Our next meet is Wednesday, April 28 at Bella Vista against River Valley. This will be the first meet at BV in over three years!

Bella Vista - Vista Del Lago Dual Meet (4-17-21): It was a warm and breezy day in Folsom, CA on Saturday, a day that saw the Broncos improve across the board in their second dual meet of the season. For the girls Darci Keele was a double winner in the frosh/soph 800 and 1600. Reyna Dismukes continues to show improvement long jumping 17-03.50 and Isabella Chilcutt tied for the state lead in the high jump going 5-06.

Bella Vista - Davis Jump Meet (4-10-21): It was nice to get back into it after so much time off! So many big things happened for the Broncos in a meet that seemed like it was the smallest I've ever been to. We competed for the first time in over a year at Davis High School and the weather couldn't have been better. A few jumpers competed in their first meet as a high school student on Saturday. McKenna Worthington (long/triple jump), Fiona Ryan (pole vault), and Noah Veare (pole vault), and were able to record marks for the first time (click for results) (video).

There were four events contested - the long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault with the Lady Broncos posting a win in all four. Reyna Dismukes won both the long and triple jumps with excellent marks for her especially considering she is coming off of a reconstructed knee on her take-off leg. Her long jump mark of 16-08 was her first time jumping in almost two years and showed that she is in great early season shape. Reyna also competed in the triple jump for the first time in her life and it was a huge debut! On her final jump she went 35-02.25 putting her in fifth place on the all time Bella Vista triple jump list. In the high jump Isabella Chilcutt took top honors jumping an excellent 5-04 with some great attempts at what could have been a California leading 5-06. Shae Wright easily won the pole vault with a fine 10-03 effort and had some great looks at 11-00.

Other top placers were Isabelle Rasmussen who took second in the long jump at 15-02.50 and second in the high jump at 5-00. Her 5-00 effort put her on the high jump all time list for the first time as well. Saeid Khoshnoodi took a solid 2nd place in the pole vault reaching 10-06 and Ryan Stephens high jumped 5-08 to take 3rd. It was great to finally see the Broncos competing in their Bella Vista uniforms after such a long and agonizing wait. Be ready to see some amazing things next Wednesday as we take on Antelope at their place. Should be fun!
